Bio
Juan Mansilla is a talented composer, conductor, singer, actor and educator. He started his studies in Colombia. During several years, he participated in different productions with the most important choirs, Opera and Zarzuela companies in Bogotá. Mr. Mansilla graduated with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts in vocal performance from Florida Atlantic University and with a Master of Music in Composition from Florida International University.
As singer, he has performed as soloist in productions of Handel’s Messiah, Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer, Carlos Pinto’s Misa Afro-brasileira, McGlynn’s Celtic Mass, amongst many other choral works. He has also participated on stage in works such as Mozart’s Don Giovanni in the title role, Weill’s Street Scene as Harry Easter, in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera in the title role, and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi in the title role. His interest in singing doesn’t stay on the big stage. He has been part of chamber vocal ensembles and solo recitals. His compositions and arrangements have been premiered and performed in the United States, Colombia, Spain and Saudi Arabia.
As Educator, Juan has interest in training younger voices. He has trained students that have made it into title role and supportive roles in Broadway on tour and the West End in London, as well as high position in local, regional and national competitions. Mr. Mansilla has also conducted different ensembles and put together under his baton works like Handel’s The Messiah, Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio and his own mass of resurrection for string orchestra and mixed choir. He had held positions such as music director and choir conductor at the Church on the Hill in Boca Raton, Florida, assistant conductor of the Gay Mens Chorus of South Florida and conductor of New Directions Chamber Winds.
Juan's Passion for the arts have driven him to the stage in straight theater, most recently taking part in a modern production of Shakespeare's Hamlet in the roles of King Hamlet's Ghost and King Claudius. Also, his music doesn't stop in the classical realm. His training as Classical singer and composer has also served him on other projects along the last 15 years bringing the Classical style into Rock, making his Rock compositions a unique and almost eclectic style. His captivating melodies and warm voice ensure an unique experience with the contrasting variety of heavy distorted guitars and interesting orchestrations. Be sure there is "never a dull moment" in any of his works.
